Copperhead Chemical has launched a new line of natural coconut oil based, multifunctional cosmetic ingredients with gentle antimicrobial  action that promotes optimal skin flora for naturally beautiful skin. The ingredients are prepared by a patented, green process that harnesses the efficacy of coconut oil medium chain esters to improve formulations, enhance skin feel and help to naturally preserve products, according to the company.


Laurest 1220 and Biopolysan 220B are said to be water soluble, elegant polyglycerol ester blends made from natural and sustainable raw materials; coconut oil and vegetable-based, non-GMO diglycerol. The gentle antimicrobial aspects of these ingredients act to augment and enhance the skin’s natural defenses against microorganisms by delivering water soluble fatty acid esters to the skin that help to promote a healthy skin microbiome. The antimicrobial properties of these products are stronger than that of most essential oils.


According to Copperhead Chemical, from self-preserving to broad spectrum, these ingredients are easy to formulate with, provide a luxurious skin feel, promote stable emulsions and simplify preservation strategies. The product offering includes a broad spectrum combination with benzyl alcohol.
